Bob has been building web-enabled businesses since the Web was born.
(How long is that in Internet years?) Bob joined Clever Computers,
a small software firm in Atlanta, in November 1994 after 5 years as
an Army Programmer/Analyst and helped establish Clever Internet
Services, a highly successful Web Hosting pioneer, where he held
several roles, the final of which was Vice President of Operations.
Clever was acquired in April 1998 by Sage Networks, which is now
known as Interliant (NASDAQ: INIT). Clever’s Atlanta-based
organization became the basis for Interliant’s Web Hosting
operation. Interliant remains a leading ASP and Web Hosting
company today, so Bob has seen all aspects of an Internet company’s
growth, from the three-person startup to the 1,000 employee,
publicly traded enterprise, all the while developing and providing
innovative outsourced services to the business community.
During his time with Clever and Interliant, Bob was responsible
for various activities such as: Development of E-Commerce and
Web Hosting product lines for Clever and Sage/Interliant; Direction
of Clever’s web application development for both corporate and
customer web sites; Creation of Interliant’s web-based product
ordering, CRM and billing system that today bills over 70,000
customers and over $12 million per year; and Acquisition
integration of more than 10 companies for Interliant in 1.5 years.
